Hello. We are Fairtrade Mobility.

Better journeys.
For everyone.

A journal about fairer vehicles, responsible technology and the people behind every journey.

Fairness starts before the first journey.

A vehicle has a story before it reaches the road: materials, manufacturing, working conditions and design choices. Its story continues through energy use, repairs and the people who depend on it. Fairtrade Mobility explores that full picture.

Our topics include electric motors, alternative motor designs, material sourcing, durable vehicles and affordable transport. Cycling, public transport and accessible streets belong in this conversation alongside cars and their drivetrains.

What we mean by fair.

Fair is a set of questions, not a seal we award. Who makes it? Where do its materials come from? How much energy does it use? Can it be repaired? Who can afford and access it? We use these questions to examine progress and trade-offs. An electric motor or a different fuel does not answer all of them on its own.

There is no single right way to move. A rural commute is different from a city journey. Disability, caring responsibilities, safety and work schedules all matter. We want to make alternatives easier to understand while taking these realities seriously.

Our editorial approach

Curiosity, with care.

Our articles combine editorial perspectives with practical starting points. Technical and environmental claims link to public research or primary sources. We distinguish a research prototype from a production technology, and a claim about one component from a claim about a whole vehicle. Model-specific details and local services should be checked with the relevant provider.

We do not publish invented reader reviews, product rankings or expert endorsements. The journey calculator makes its assumptions visible and uses your own budget inputs. Its example amounts are not market averages.

Fairtrade Mobility publishes information and commentary. We do not sell vehicles, motors or spare parts, arrange sales or accept quotation requests. We do not certify products as fair-trade. Photography illustrates the topics and is not presented as original field reporting or a product endorsement.
